MAGPIES FACE TIGERS AS YOUNG GUN RETURNS The Tradelink Western Magpies will this week embark on what could possibly be the toughest run home in the QAFL which will be sure to test the coaching staff, players and the club as a whole. Despite that there is no doubt the trademark determination, persistence and resilience of the Magpies to keep turning up and competing week in and week out over the last two years will shine through. COMING EVENTS - DARREN MARLOW AND COMEDY NIGHT Following the success of Mr Magpie and Black and White Night of which images can be found in the photo gallery there is more to come. On Saturday Night July 31 Darren Marlow will once again entertain the SDAFSC with his bare bones, bourbon soaked, acoustic rock following the Labrador home game. HUNTY'S DREAMTIME TRIP Tradelink Western Magpies young gun Chris Hunt has been presented with a golden opportunity this week after being selected to play in an all indigenous U/23 match as the curtain raiser to Saturday night's Dreamtime at the G match between Richmond and Essendon. WESTERN MAGPIES CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE 2010 Next week the Western Magpies will begin conducting a Centre of Excellence program at the club which is designed to fast track the development of a range of players over a 15 week period. The program was conducted as a pilot at Morningside in 2009 and has been extended to include the Western Magpies in 2010. BARASSI/HOGG BIG SUCCESS Over 150 people packed into the Sherwood District Australian Football Social Club on Friday Night for what was an outstanding evenings entrtainment and everybody left praising the event. BEN HEFFERNAN-ROPER WINS BILL PEIRCE MEDAL Classy midfielder Ben Heffernan-Roper has won the prestigous Bill Peirce Medal as the 2009 Tradelink Western Magpies Best and Fairest and was presented his medal by club champion Bill Peirce at the clubs Awards Presentation Night on Saturday Night. Bomber was a clear winner in the voting with 44 votes from runner up Chris Judson on 29 votes from key 2009 recruit Ed McDonnell on 28 votes. Heffernan more -->
