PRE-SEASON STARTS OCTOBER 19 The Tradelink Western Magpies will start pre-season training for the 2010 Velocity Cup Competition on Monday October 19 at 6pm at Sherwood FC. Strength and Conditioning coach Warren Vines will be putting the Magpies through their paces with the help of former Brisbane Lion Maxi Kennedy a guest for the first session.

BEN HEFFERNAN-ROPER WINS BILL PEIRCE MEDAL Classy midfielder Ben Heffernan-Roper has won the prestigous Bill Peirce Medal as the 2009 Tradelink Western Magpies Best and Fairest and was presented his medal by club champion Bill Peirce at the clubs Awards Presentation Night on Saturday Night. WESTERN MAGPIES - AFL REC-FOOTY COMP 2009 The Western Magpies will once again be running a mixed AFL Rec-Footy Competition in the 2009 off season. The season will begin with a come and try evening on Friday October 9 from 6.30pm so intereseted people can come and have a go at this modified social version of Australian Football. WESTERN MAGPIES REAPPOINT PAUL GRENTELL - ASSISTANT COACHES WANTED The Western Magpies AFC is proud to announce the reappointment of Senior Coach Paul Grentell to coach the Tradelink Western Magpies in its second season as QAFL club in 2010. Following a review process over the past few weeks Grentell was successful in demostrating to the Western Magpies that he had learnt a tremendous amount about himself and his players through a very tough 2009 season. Kale Reed Wins Bill Clerke Medal - Matt Thompson Wins Reserves Goal Kicking The Tradelink Western Magpies Reserves topped of a very good season at the Grogan Medal Count on Monday night despite their exit from the Finals at the hands of Morningside on Saturday. Nippy small forward and midfielder Kale Reed took out the Velocity Sports Cup Reserves Besta and Fairest Award the Bill Clerke Medal with 15 votes and shared the honour with Christopher Graham from Labrador. JACKSON ALLEN NAMED IN AFL/AIS SQUAD Young gun Jackson Allen a Sherwood U/16 player who recently made his QAFL debut with the Western Magpies against Aspley only two weeks ago, was the only Queenslander named in the AFL/AIS Academy Squad on Tuesday. 2009 has been a huge year for Allen as he was a key member of the Queensland U/16 team that has qualified for the final of the final of the U/16 National Championships in division 2. more -->

MSI Taylor Mascot Round 11 - Fletcher Evans The Western Magpies MSI Taylor Round 11 Mascot was a very proud Fletcher Evans representing the Mogill Mustangs U/10 team as he lead the Western Magpies out on to Wildbrook Wines Park to take on the Northern Territory Thunder.From the look in his face he had a great time with the Magpies and takes a strong mark and who knows he could be running out for the Magpies for real when he grows up. more -->

MAGPIES PRE-SEASON RESUMES / U/18's KICK OFF The Western Magpies have resumed pre-season training starting on Monday January 12 with a welome back 3k time trial to see who enjoyed the Christmas Break too much. The Senior Magpies will traing Monday, Wednesdays and Friday at Chelmer Park from 5.45pm. Western Magpies U/18 Training will start on Thursday January 15 from 6pm under coach Des Lashman. This will be a skills session to compliment those U/18's that are training either with the Western Taipans or the Western Magpies seniors. more -->
